CELE cu is a cylindrical shaped soundinstallation and performance with a digitally woven jacquard fabric made from copper and cotton. The pattern used for the fabric is made from seismographic recordings of a weaver bird’s mating song.
The copper threads are functioning as a conductor for electricity, with low electricity/soundwaves running through the fabric connected via cables to soundsources. The performer plays the instrument by touching the copper fabric with her hands and with a copper glove – creating a circuit between the body and the copper fabric, which can be heard as transformed sounds.
2020, performance duration 30’, Installation, The National Gallery of Denmark, Copenhagen
Supported by the Danish Art Foundation, Danish Composer Society, and Rådet for visuel kunst.
